2017 Summer Art Intensive
The Summer Art Intensive is an exclusive opportunity for serious art students to be mentored by a wonderful teacher, build their portfolio for submission to art schools, to have their works juried by representatives from the Savannah School of Art and Design plus a chance to earn a partial scholarship to SCAD! This is tailored to students aged 14 ½ or older who are entering or wish to enter AP Studio Art at their high school.
Friday, July 21 will be spent on the SCAD Atlanta campus, meeting with an admissions director for a tour and advice regarding scholarships and portfolio submission, doing a hands-on project and lunch at the Hub (will need lunch money). Students/parents need to arrange carpools or drive independently to SCAD.
With the expert help of Stacey Jackson, students can finish a few of their summer assignments; plus work on new projects, including photography with composition instruction. Students will turn the photos into charcoal drawings. Stacey will also explain to students how AP portfolios work, help them with checklists, the basics including rubrics, supplies necessary to always have on hand as well as critique any existing work they bring.
About Stacey Jackson: She has a B.A. in Art History from University of West Florida, M.A. in Art Education from Florida State University, Ed. S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University. She teaches AP Art classes at Walnut Grove High School and is a mixed-media artist.
