Why should you enter local art shows like ours?
For opportunities to:
- Display your artwork to the public
- Sell your artwork. If you are not entering our shows, you are missing a prime opportunity to sell your work as we consistently sell more 2D art in each new show. We sold 27 pieces in the latest Members Show and 60+ pieces in The Tiny Art Show.
- Show support for your local art gallery
- Be a part of and support a larger community of artists
- Challenge yourself and stretch your abilities
Framing
I get LOTS of questions about framing and how to wire the back of a painting. It is important to have a nicely finished back on your painting. It looks more professional and finished.
I get LOTS of questions about framing and how to wire the back of a painting. It is important to have a nicely finished back on your painting. It looks more professional and finished.
- For a newbie or someone without the tools (or interest) in messing around with wiring the back of your painting - here's a tip:
- Hobby Lobby will put the dust-cover (paper), wire hanger and the little bumpers on your frames for $3-$6. They will do this to frames that you buy there, but ALSO for frames that you purchased elsewhere. Other frame stores may have a similar service.
- Bring in paintings, match up a frame while there (or bring in your own painting and frame) and then they will secure the painting in the frame, wire etc while you wait. Convenient and a good value! I usually spend $10-12 on frames on sale there.
- Of course, many artists don’t frame their works and that’s fine! You can still finish the back off nicely.
- Be sure to paint the sides of your painting if it's not framed. (By the way, glass is not recommended on oil or acrylic paintings.)
- *Putting a wire on the back of all paintings is a must.* Please don’t use sawtooth hangers.
- If you want to do it yourself, click HERE for a how-to video.
- Here's some great information presented at one of our Guild Meetings by member and professional artist, NancyJeanette Long: Frame and hang your art like a pro

FAQs about our Members Show
(held annually in January-February)
Here's a few of the most-asked questions:
1 Is this a juried show?
No. This is an open call to all members to submit their works. If you're a Member - you're in! There are some guidelines you have to follow and you can find them in our guidelines listed below.
2 Do I have to bring in my art before the show or submit photos online?
No. This is a much "easier" and more relaxed show than the Regional Show. The drop-off- dates are January 5-6, 2024 from 11am - 5pm. You can even wait and fill out the form here at drop-off, or pick up a form early (or download it from the link) -- up to you! The entry fee is paid at the time of drop-off.
3 Are awards given?
Yes. The 2024 show will be judged. Judge TBA. Awards will be presented at the Reception on January 27, 2024.
4 What kind of art is accepted into the Members Show?
Painting, drawing, pottery, 3D/sculpture, mixed media, photography, fiber (quilting, sewing, weaving etc) ... plus non-traditional works such as jewelry, furniture and more. This is a really exuberant and fun show that shows off the talents of our members! This is YOUR chance to shine!
5 Can I submit things I worked on here or in other classes?
Yes! This is a more relaxed show than others. You can submit works made in our classes or open studios -- as long as the teacher did not "touch" the works. Pottery, sip and paint, painting or drawing classes and other classes -- show us what you created!
6 Does everything have to be for sale?
No. That's up to you - you can list it with a price for sale or "NFS" (not for sale).
7 Is there a Youth category?
Yes. For ages 10 - 17.
8 I'm not a Member. Can I join so that I can enter the show?
Yes! You can join online or visit the center and join. You can even join at drop-off on Jan 5 - 6.
