Walton Writers hosts three on-going events here at MWCA, especially geared toward writers -- from budding writers to published authors. These meetings are free and open to the public. Joining Walton Writers MeetUp group is recommended so you'll get updates and reminders about their meetings.
Hosted by our Literary Arts Chair, Walton Writers founder and published author Barbara Barth. ONLINE WRITING PROMPTS AND CONTESTS: Join this fun Facebook group for creative writing prompts and contests! MONDAY WRITE-IN: We are closed for now on Mondays. We hope to resume Monday Write-In soon. Every Monday from noon to 3 pm. Drop in and stay as long as you like for writing inspiration, encouragement and support! No formal instruction provided in this free creative gathering. Very informal, come as you are, come when you can. Bring something you are working on. Critique groups welcomed. Open to anyone interested in writing. A quiet place to work on your craft. FIRST THURSDAY WALTON WRITERS MEETING: Meetings hosted through ZOOM online. Meets every first Thursday (of most months) from 6 - 8 pm. Topics and speakers vary from month-to-month. In November and December they will have a different meeting schedule due to city of Monroe events on the usual meeting nights. Email Barbara for more info. Second Saturday Open Mic Night hosted by Walton Writers (comedy, storytelling, music) from 7 – 9 pm. Hosted through ZOOM Performers wanted: story tellers, spoken word, comics, musicians.
