It's very unusual that I send out two Memos in a month, but I have THREE important things to share that are upcoming in November:
1 - our MEMBERS MEETING on Nov 15

3 - Christmas Open House on Nov 12 - bring your friends and family to shop!

MEMBERS MEETING
This is our annual "business" meeting - but we will try to make it interesting!  No need to RSVP, just come!

We invite all our current MEMBERS to our Annual Members' Meeting which will be held Sunday, Nov 15 from 4 -5 pm. 
Business to cover:

1. Approval of two officers to fill interim spots on our board. Joe Gargasz (current president) has appointed these: Laura Templeton - president and Paul Straquadine - vice president
2. Budget will be presented by our treasurer, Nancy Moate
3. Hear about our strategic plan and goals
4. Find out ways you can get involved
5. Meet the board, Q & A session

And some great fellowship time too! Light refreshments served.

Our Gifts from the HeART Shop officially opens Thursday, November 5 but as much as possible I urge you all to have your booth installed by October 30.

CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE
Join us for special refreshments Thursday November 12 from 6 - 8 pm. Visit our Gift Shop for the best gifts in town made by 50+ local artists and makers! A festive and fun event for all!
Each purchase of $25 or more enters you in a drawing for a $50 gift card to our shop!

**A COUPLE OF REMINDERS FROM THE LAST MEMO**
FALL FEST OCTOBER 31
We will have a pottery workshop and pop-up shops.  I have these artists listed for a pop-up shop.  Washington Street will be closed so there is plenty of room for booths.  Bring your own tables and tents (if you have one) and chairs.

If you handle your own customers and sales, you will settle up with us at the end of the day with 10% of your sales.  If we handle your sales, it will be 25% as usual and you'll be paid with the rest of the market artists in early November.

TEACHERS NEEDED
We are seeking artists, artisans and writers to instruct community art classes. These classes can cover just about any artistic genre, e.g., painting, fiber arts, mixed media, jewelry making, writing, various crafts, etc.

Instructors design their classes: examples -- a one-time workshop, a course of 3-6 weeks or weekly on-going classes.

We have a class proposal worksheet for you to fill out. This helps you walk through exactly what you need (and we need) to start teaching here - and includes our policies.

We also have an interview/mock class process for new teachers - you must demonstrate your project/work to our education chair.

We have fabulous teachers here and wish to expand our offerings of more creative and fun classes to our community, taught by artists who also love to teach!
We offer classes for all ages - children, teens and adults - and all levels of experience - beginners to advanced.

By the way, if you have art in the Regional Show, the pick up days are Friday and Saturday, October 23-24 from 11 - 5.

Categories: 2D, 3D, Photography and Functional Pottery.  Also a Youth category for ages 10-17.
Enter up to three pieces for $35. I'll send out the registration form soon.

Details:

1 -- If you are NOT already in our gift shop, you will have to be juried into the Christmas shop.  We are looking for quality of course, but also works that are unique and not in direct competition with what we already have.  Send me photos and I will run your submissions by our gallery committee and will let you know.

2 -- Set up is on these days

• Tuesday - Thursday October 27-29 from 11 - 4
• Friday October 30 from 10-5
• <<NOT Saturday - Fall Fest held that day!!>>>
• Tuesday-Wednesday Nov 3-4 from 11-4

You will have one side of one of our gallery boards to hang items on, if needed.
Show opens Thursday Nov 5

3 -- You will need to provide a small table, like a card table and a white tablecloth.  It's also nice if you have some fun & festive decor. Make your table attractive.  Bring your own display items to make things easily accessible (displays for earrings for example etc).

4 -- The majority of items you offer should be  in the range of $35 or less.  Keep in mind that our average selling price is $15-20.

5 -- REFRESH your items every 2-3 weeks.  We have repeat shoppers.  In November you may want to offer more fall/Thanksgiving themed items.  Remove those items by December 1 and replace with Christmas decor and gifts etc. 

6 -- TIP: If you can be set up by Fall Fest on October 31, we should be busy and have lots of shoppers that day.  You may even want to offer some specials for that day only.

7 -- EVERYTHING must be tagged and priced.  Contact me if you don't know how to do this.

8 -- The Christmas Shop technically closes on 12/24.  If you want to run an after-Christmas sale, you are welcome to do that.  All items must be removed by January 6.

9 -- We are open until 8pm (if the city does this again) for candlelight shopping on these Thursdays: 11/8, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, 12/17.  Volunteers are appreciated.

10 -- PLEASE PUBLICIZE the shop to your friends and family via social media.  Invite them and bring them here to shop!

11 -- FESTIVE OPEN HOUSE with hot cider and refreshments: Thursday, Nov 12 from 5 - 8 pm.  Help needed - please - to bring snacks and hosts/hostess.

12 -- Christmas Parade, I assume, will be held 12/3 unless it is canceled because of the virus.  This is a busy night for us and a good night to have your items freshened up!!  We usually host a members' pot-luck that night, too -- will make an announcement about that later.

13 -- The usual 75/25 split applies.  Please note that of our 25%, we only net about 8-9% after we take care of supplies, processing fees etc.
