Hello MWCA friends!

Once a month (or so), I send out this "insider info" to our members.  Thank you for your support of local art!

YOU'RE INVITED
Our Elementary Student Art Show Reception is TONIGHT (Thursday 3/24) from 6 - 7:30.  Come see this happy, lively show - it comes down tonight after the reception.  Our next Show is for High School Students and it opens next week on Wednesday.  SCAD will judge the High School Show and award scholarships, as usual.

UPCOMING SHOWS
We have the Tiny Art Show & Sale and our annual Regional Juried Show coming up.  All the details and guidelines are on our website, including the jurists and judge for the Regional Show.  Thanks to our member, Babs Kall, who has contacts throughout the art community in Athens, we have some fabulous artists with impressive credentials as jurists.  Learn more here: https://www.monroewaltonarts.org/call-for-entries.html  You can download and print the guideline for both shows there, or drop by the center for copies.

SPEAKING OF SHOWS ...
Why should you enter local art shows like ours?
For opportunities to:

• Display your artwork to the public
• Sell your artwork.  If you are not entering our shows, you are missing a prime opportunity to sell your work as we consistently sell more 2D art in each new show.  We sold 21 pieces in the latest Members Show, alone.
• Show support for your local art gallery
• Be a part of and support a larger community of artists
• Challenge yourself and stretch your abilities

2021 IMPACT REPORT
Why support MWCA?  What do we do?  What are our goals and accomplishments?  I think you'll be impressed with our eight-page summary of 2021 produced by our president, Laura Templeton.  It's attractive, easy-to-read and very compelling!  Drop by the Center for a copy.  

NATURE MEETS ART GARDEN TOUR on May 14
Don't miss!!  Tickets will go on sale in early April and once we sell out (which we expect to) we will have to close down sales!  We have seven private home gardens (all new this year!) and two very cool public gardens on this year's tour.  Watch our Facebook page or this page on our website for the launch of our ticket sales:

MEMBERS ONLY - FREE - PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP with Andrea Kindl -- GUILD MEETING
Saturday, April 23 from 8 am - 2 pm
This workshop is open to any current MWCA member and is free for members to attend. Guild meetings are opportunities for artists to come together to share and learn from each other.

Andrea is an accomplished, award-winning Atlanta area studio and plein air artist.  She uses a limited palette and focuses on shape and value for her compositions. Andrea mainly paints in oils and she also uses acrylics, gouache and watercolors to visually describe and express her surroundings.
