Hello friends!
Here are a few quick updates! 1 -- Members Show Reception -- Friday, January 27 (TONIGHT!) from 6-7:30 Please come, meet the artists, browse some great pieces, enjoy some wine and refreshments, fellowship and keep your fingers crossed that your favorites win an award! Margaret Warfield (who judged the show) will be here to present the awards. You're invited! 2 -- Guild Meeting Saturday, Feb 4 at 3:30 - 5pm THE SCIENCE OF PAINT Have you ever noticed a work of art with a hairline cracks in its surface? Have you ever wondered why some colors in a painting yellow or disappear over time? In the February guild meeting, oil painter and instructor, Kamden Ecker, will explain some of the chemistry behind paint. She will explain why not every white pigment is the same, why it is important to start with oil and end with oil, and why varnish may not be preserving your painting. Also, she will discuss fascinating and problematic pigments throughout the history of art. Kamden will primarily discuss oil paints, but will briefly discuss other media as well. Step up your painting practice by understanding some fascinating science! We'll enjoy a time of fellowship and light refreshments, too! RSVP by emailing our Guild Chair, Juli Tredwell 3 -- Latest newsletter I sent out our "big" email on Thursday. If you missed it, here is a link to that newsletter.
