Here are a few quick updates! 1 -- MEMBERS SHOW Our Members Show closes down Feb 19. Please come pick up your works Feb. 20-21 -- 11am-5pm. It's been a GREAT show! As of the end of January, 12 pieces have sold so far out of the show. We have MORE shows coming up in 2024 that you can participate in. See them HERE: https://www.monroewaltonarts.org/call-for-entries.html 2 -- EVENTS ON SATURDAY Feb 10 SOUPer Bowl Saturday Feb 10, starting at 11:30 We start serving at 11:30 - until we run out! Come early for the best selection of bowls! This is one of our most popular events! Thanks to Rebecca and her pottery students and other potters in the shop!! We ask for a minimum donation of $18 per bowl. This includes a handmade bowl, to-go container of chili or soup of your choice and a dessert (made by volunteers) until we run out! Special this year! A limited number of Bowl cozies will be available, too. These were donated to us by Katie Lyons and will be available on SOUPer Bowl Saturday for a minimum donation of $5 each. This is a fundraiser to support MWCA’s various programs. As a non-profit community arts center, we deeply appreciate how much you love our work and mission. YOUR HELP NEEDED: We are just about covered for our food and volunteer needs, but just a few slots remain open ... Please consider helping us by bringing crockpots of soup or chili; or cookies/brownies; and/or helping to serve, set up or clean up. Drop-in at 11, 12, 1, 2 or 3:00 -- $20 per bowl. Your bowl will be ready in two weeks. Beaded bracelets with Julie: 10am, noon, 2pm or 4 pm - pre-registration recommended, all ages Make a set of three bracelets: "linked chain" or plain beaded strand bracelets -- your choice of style or mix it up and make a combo set. Hundreds of beads and variations to choose from! $30 per set of three. Please pre-register as we are limited in the number of students per class. Walk-in's are welcome IF there is room. 5 -- TWO FUN SPRING EVENTS!!! SAVE THE DATE!! A Toast to the Arts Friday evening April 26 from 7 - 10pm (sorry I need to correct the graphic - the correct time is 7-10 pm) at SPARROW GROVE MANOR Food | Drinks | Entertainment and Nature Meets Art Tour of Gardens Saturday, April 27 from 11am – 5pm Featuring select gardens in Monroe Inspiration | Art Demos | Education Our FIRST ever annual A TOAST TO THE ARTS event on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Sparrow Grove Manor in downtown Monroe -- You’ll enjoy a fun night out – wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, music and dancing, meet Dr. Allan Armitage (UGA professor emeritus of horticulture), and an exclusive silent auction that raises critical money for MWCA. Join us to fundraise for the arts and enjoy one of the most memorable evenings in Monroe. The following day, we will host our annual NATURE MEETS ART Garden Tour, an inspiring and beautiful foray into the loveliest gardens in the area. Art, music and a little learning, too! Some fun ancillary events planned for that day, too!! We are seeking SILENT AUCTION ITEMS -- we will have an exclusive silent auction on Friday night to please all tastes and budgets. Finally, we need volunteers to help in many ways with BOTH events! Babs Kall will demonstrate how to handle glass, cut and grind glass, apply copper foil, and solder pieces together. This motivational opportunity will enable you to understand what it takes to create your own art suitable for hanging.
